Social Sciences Conference (SocCon)

SocCon will be the fourth consecutive biennial social sciences conference in New Zealand. It is being held in Wellington between the 18-20 July 2011. The NZGS is a sponser of the conference

The conference is for educators (primary, secondary and tertiary teacher educators) of the social sciences, including, but not limited to the subject areas of History, Geography, Economics and Social Studies. We anticipate approximately 300 delegates to attend this conference from throughout New Zealand. The conference will focus on developing creative and critical social sciences thinkers, and inspiring their social action.

The conference is being held on the Wellington Waterfront, with our base being Te Wharewaka O Poneke. This exciting new building is currently being constructed and will have state-of-the-art facilities, including a large exhibition area. SonCon will also be using nearby facilities for breakout sessions and workshops
